Come explore our school at an upcoming admissions event.

The Meridian School is an independent PreK to 5th Grade school in the heart of Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood. At Meridian, we know that learning happens in many ways and in many places – often outside the walls of the classroom. We encourage our students to gain inspiration from not only the great outdoors, but from the diverse community of people that make up our school.

CULTURE OF BELONGING

We promote diversity and inclusion by linking community and curriculum to open minds and hearts, connecting awareness to action, and highlighting the contributions of each student.

MERIDIAN CARES

At Meridian, students are guided toward self-discipline and thoughtful decisions, mindful of themselves, others and their environment. As an entire learning community, we agree to practice Meridian Cares, which serves as the foundation for our school-wide expectations.

I care for myself; I care for others; I care for our place.

DYNAMIC LEARNING

Our place-based educational approach includes field trips within our neighborhood and local community as early as PreKindergarten. As students get older, they venture further from the Meridian campus for longer periods of time. Our goal is to extend and enhance classroom activities, giving children the opportunity to make connections to their local, regional, and global communities.

“Over the past year and a half, we have seen our child form joyous and meaningful relationships with new friends, teachers, and staff. We are delighted she has developed an intense love of reading and is open to academic challenges, while having so much fun at school.”

"Our son loves being at school every day – the biggest gripe we hear is that we're picking him up too early. Meridian is helping him to explore his identity and how he shows up in the world, providing the culture and experience to develop his love of learning, and giving him the support he needs to learn, test, and make good choices. We're so glad to have found such a diverse community with shared values around raising responsible, good people, and look forward to our younger son joining Meridian next year.”

“Our daughter started Meridian in Kindergarten during the pandemic, and even through the most challenging times, the school has continued to exceed our expectations. As a shy child, our daughter has discovered her voice at Meridian and is thriving both socially and academically. And as a family of color, we appreciate the school’s continued commitment to equity and inclusion – and it’s a joy to see our daughter embracing her self-identity and celebrating cultures globally.”

We recommend Meridian to others because of the outdoor space to play, explore and learn. Place-based learning brings to life what our kids do in school, igniting a love for learning. It also allows them to explore, observe, play and be active participants in caring for the beautiful park and Good Shepherd Center. Our children’s social and emotional skills have surpassed our expectations. Meridian teachers get to know your child, how they learn, and what they need to be engaged. From a social-emotional standpoint, they learn problem-solving skills, gain confidence, and become passionate, engaged members in our community.
